ADVOCATE FOR OUR MOST VULNERABLE CHILDREN

Empower Children as a CASA Advocate!

Are you ready to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children in foster care in our county? Join us for our upcoming CASA Advocate Training, starting on September 26th, 2024. This comprehensive 8-week course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for abused and neglected children in our community. CASA of Polk County, Inc. is dedicated to advocating for the best interests of children in the foster care system. Our trained volunteers, known as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs), provide support, guidance, and a voice for these vulnerable children, ensuring that they receive the care and resources they need to thrive.

TRAINING PROGRAM DETAILS:

​

  • Start Date: September 26, 2024

  • Duration: 8 weeks on Thursdays

  • Times: 3:00pm - 6:00pm

  • Location: In person at the Polk County Courthouse, first floor conference room

​

THROUGHOUT THE TRAINING PROGRAM YOU WILL:

​

  • Gain an understanding of the foster care system and the role of a CASA

  • Learn about child development, trauma-informed care, and cultural competency

  • Develop skills in communication, advocacy, and report writing

  • Receive guidance on navigating the court system and working with other professionals

  • Participate in interactive exercises, case studies, and role-playing scenarios

THIS TRAINING PROGRAM IS OPEN TO INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE:

​

  • Passionate about advocating for children's rights and well-being

  • Committed to making a positive impact in their community

  • Able to dedicate time and effort to serving as a volunteer CASA

  • Willing to undergo background checks and complete required screenings
